Aneynu is a traditional hymn chanted in Ashkenazic synagogues on the festival of Simchat Torah (The Rejoicing of the Torah). As the Torah scrolls are taken out and paraded aroudn the synagogue, the cantor and congregation sing this hymn in a call-and-response fashion. Interesting to note is the reappearing refrain translated as "answer us on the day when we call to you."
